The library of the college is spacious and computerized. It is well equipped with reference books, journals, and periodicals .The scope of the collections reflects the commitment to advanced study in education and its various dimensions. The seating arrangements are comfortable for students and they can also move around and browse through the different sections, and flip through journals and newspapers, check out the new arrivals and upcoming events on the bulletin board.

  • Reference Service – Solutions are sought to Short range and long range Reference queries to the staff and student teachers of the College.
     
  • Referral Service – Solutions to Reference queries which are not solved within college library resources are sought from other college libraries, through reference and networking and also through Advanced Web Surfing. Such information is further tagged for future reference.
     
  • Newspaper Clipping Service– Newspaper Clipping on Higher Education, Current affairs, Environmental Issues, Career Guidance, etc are preserved for the users.
     
  • Current Awareness Service– Newspaper Clippings on current events are displayed in the Library for the users. The faculty & staff are updated about the new facilities and acquisitions of the library through email and regular notices which are displayed on the Notice Boards.
     
  • Library Orientation & Information Literacy Program– Library Orientation is given to beginners at the commencement of the academic year.

General Rules:

  1. The Library follows Open Access System. Students can take books from the stacks to the Reading Room for browsing through them. They should leave such books on the tables and not shelve them, as A Book Misplaced is a Book Lost.
  2. Every Library User has a right to a peaceful environment for reading. Making unreasonable noise, including talking loudly on a cell phone or otherwise is not allowed.
  3. Underlining or marking / tearing / folding of pages/ defacing or damaging in any way of library books or other materials is strictly prohibited. 
  4. Eating/ Smoking/ Littering in the Library premises is strictly prohibited.
  5. Users should leave their bags and other belongings including personal books (except money and other valuables) in the luggage racks cupboard Marked ‘LOCKER’.
  6. ONLY Notepaper/notebooks will be allowed inside the Library.

The Library is under CCTV surveillance


ISSUE /RETURN OF BOOKS/ MAGAZINES/ NEWSPAPERS

  1. Students can borrow a maximum of 2 books at a given point of time. Students can keep the books with them for a period of 3 days as per their user category. The books should be returned by due date. For overdue books appropriate action will be taken.
  2. The books in the Reserved Sections are not for issue. Users can refer them in the Library only.  Please follow the instructions posted strategically in all sections.
  3. The readers should check the book thoroughly for missing pages, chapters, pictures etc., while borrowing the book. While returning if the library material is mutilated or spoiled books, will have to be replaced by the borrower. 
  4. Readers can claim (reserve) books which are issued out. Claimed books are kept reserved for the claimant for 1 day from the date of return by previous borrower. One reader can put 1 claim. Books are reissued only if there are no claims.
  5. Loss of book(s) must be reported immediately. For the rules for replacement of lost book kindly contact the Library Personnel.
  6. Magazines will be separately issued with entry in periodicals issue register.
  7. Newspapers will not be allowed to be taken out of the library. All users shall read and put them back in paper rack.
